It’s the Cheetah Chase – the most unique race event in the state where runners can take the scenic route to “Africa” and back as the kangaroos, giraffe, and cheetahs all wonder what your hurry is! 6:45am to 7:45am - Registration
7:00am - Arrival is advised in order to park inside the zoo.
7:30am - Gates to zoo entrance close to prep for race.
8:00am - Gazelle Gallop (5K Run)
Sloth Walk (5K Walk)
Post Race Cool Down

Parking and Shuttle Information
The parking lot gates close at 7:30am, please arrive early. We encourage participants to park at the Harper Creek High School and ride a shuttle to the zoo. The shuttles will run continuously until 7:30am, and postrace from 8:30-11:00am.

About the Cheetah Chase Course
The Binder Park Zoo Cheetah Chase 5K course has a variety of surfaces including asphalt, brick, boardwalk, crushed rock, and grass. There is a combination of up hills, down hills, tight turns and flat stretches throughout the course. Native Michigan woodlands are in abundance along with a wide variety of zoo animals to catch your eye. Highlights also include panoramic views of the African savannah with herds of giraffe, zebra, antelope, and more. This is a truly unique venue for a 5K event. Download Course Map

Please note that particpants with jog strollers must start behind the 5K walkers for safety purposes.

Post Race Celebration

The Cheetah Chase takes on a refreshing new twist this year with a beer garden sponsored by Bell’s Brewery- your first beer is free for participants ages 21 and up with valid ID*. Check your time, pick up your award and enjoy a brew or two to cool down as you enjoy vendor booth displays and zoo themed entertainment.

The fun doesn’t end with the race…head inside the zoo with your admission ticket where the Bell’s beer garden offers beer for purchase to race participants and zoo guests throughout the day. Enjoy visiting your favorite animal exhibits with a cold Bell’s beer in hand- from the East Zoo all the way to Wild Africa and back!

*alternate refreshments will be available for those under age 21.

For your safety, emergency medical personnel will be on-site during all events.

Binder Park Zoo is located 3 miles south of Exit 100 off I-94 in Battle Creek, Michigan.
