Backyard Wildlife
Have you ever seen a deer in your backyard? What about a squirrel? Come to Binder Park Zoo and discover the animals and other living things that call your backyard home. You’ll become a backyard investigator as you learn to find animals living in Michigan. We’ll explore different animal habitats and what all animals need in order to survive through games, stories, activities, guided walks and more!

Animal Families
Do you have brothers and sisters? What if you had a hundred or even a thousand brothers and sisters? Come to Binder Park Zoo to discover some unique animal families. You’ll learn about rabbits, rats and many more animals through games, activities, songs and crafts. We’ll even have up close encounters with animals that have very interesting families!

All Creatures at the Zoo
How do animals compare? Some are small and some are big. Some animals can fly and some can climb. Which animals live where it’s hot? Which animals live where it’s cold? Come to Binder Park Zoo and discover some of our animal opposites as we meet live animals, play games, sing songs, create crafts and visit some of our animals at the zoo!

Warm and Fuzzy
What makes a mammal a mammal? Join us at Binder Park Zoo to discover the answer. We’ll talk about some famous mammals, like lions and tigers and even a few that are a little less known like the platypus. Explore mammals from around the world through songs, stories, crafts, games and live animal presentations. So what are you waiting for? Come to the zoo and become a mammal whiz kid!

African Adventure
Get your safari hat, binoculars and prepare to board the Wilderness Tram for a week-long African Adventure at Binder Park Zoo. We’ll explore the people, habitats and animals that call Africa home through games, activities, crafts, songs and live animal presentations. We’ll also stop by and say hello to the giraffes on savannah. So get ready for an African Adventure you won’t soon forget!

7-9 year olds

Reptiles and Amphibians
Where do poison dart frogs get their poison? Why does a skink have a blue tongue? As an amateur herpetologist, you’ll study some of the zoo’s reptiles and amphibians and answer these questions and more while playing games, creating crafts and experiencing live animal presentations!

Zoo Careers
Do you ever wonder what its like to work in a Zoo? Are you interested in drawing and photography? What about plants or even computers? Come meet some of our staff and find out what they do at Binder Park Zoo. You’ll discover that it takes many different jobs to help keep the zoo running smoothly.

Courage, Cunning and Camouflage
Would you fight with a bear over food? Do you know how a zebra’s stripes help them to blend in? Did you know toads have poison sacs? Come to Binder Park Zoo and discover the amazing features that allow animals to survive in the wild. From flashy colors, strong smells and sharp teeth, animals come with many different defenses to protect themselves. We’ll explore animal courage, cunning and camouflage through games, activities, crafts and live animal presentations!

Safari Africa!
Spend a week in Wild Africa getting to know the animals, people and customs of the vast continent of Africa. You’ll learn about African habitats and the animals and people that live there. You’ll play authentic African games such as “Bivoe Ebuma” and “Mancala”. Discover what it takes to catch a poacher, learn Swahili and survive dangerous Safari situations. And no Safari would be complete without a visit to the giraffe deck. Start packing and preparing for your Safari Africa!

10-12 year olds

Zoovivor: Africa
What do you think of when you hear “Africa”? Deep, dark jungles? Herds of animals? Africa is all of these things and more. Learn to play authentic African games like “Bivoe Ebuma”. See if you have what it takes to prepare and survive a dangerous African Safari. We’ll spend our days in Wild Africa, learning how to identify African animals, looking for dangerous poachers and we’ll even learn a little Swahili. So what are you waiting for? CSI: Wildlife
Brush up on your detective skills and sign up for a week of sleuthing at Binder Park Zoo!
Each day we will have a new mystery to solve! Clues will be given throughout the day by playing games, activities and seeing live animal presentations. Add up the clues to figure out the mystery spot, animal or exhibit.

Animal Builders
With all of the construction going on this summer, why not come down to Binder Park Zoo and see what the animals are building? From tunnels to nests, dens to dams, discover some amazing animal creations! What materials do they use? How do they build it? Why do they build it? Come participate in games and activities testing your building skills, meet live animals, and have a go at creating your very own nest! Be constructive and sign up now for a fun-filled week of exploring animal builders, while getting down and dirty (hard hats not required).
