Explore your surroundings on adventurous hikes and scavenger hunts at Safari Day Camp.  Children ages 7—12 will enjoy a whole heap of fun with crazy games, group activities, crafts and awesome field trips.  Children can attend one week or all summer.  Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided. Please bring a sack lunch each day.

A Walk on the Wild Side

There are many kinds of animal behavior.  Some behavior is for finding food, some behavior is for finding a mate and some animals learn certain behaviors from people.  Take a “Walk on the Wild Side” and see how many kinds of animal behavior you can discover.  You will experience natural wild behaviors through games such as Bat and Moth and Musk Ox Maneuvers.  Make a birdfeeder for your own yard as you “Walk On the Wild Side.”

A chattering monkey, a noisy parrot, and a slithering snake – What do they have in common?  They all call the tropical rainforest home.  Discover the sights, sounds and smells that make this habitat WILD!  Create a Howler Monkey Mask and even make your own rainforest to take home.

Creating an animal exhibit takes more then just fence and an animal.  Where will the animal stay at night?  How will the keepers get into the exhibit to clean?  Most important how will you keep the animal safe from the public and the public safe from the animal?  Come to Binder Park Zoo and answer these questions and more when you create your own animal exhibit and tour the new Snow Leopard exhibit!   

If I Ran the Zoo

You are the Director of the Zoo.  You are responsible for hundreds of different species of animals and several hundred employees.  The decisions that you make are very important and could affect entire species of animals.  How will you handle this?  This week you will get the chance to create your very own zoo and each day you will add animals and check on the well being of your collection.  You will go behind the scenes at Binder Park Zoo to observe a real zoo in action.  You will assist in a local conservation project, play games such a the Bluebird game, make a birdfeeder and find out how things should be done “If I Ran The Zoo.”

 

Grade:  Entering 6th – 7th

Zoovivor Africa

What do you think of when you hear “Africa”?  Deep, dark jungles?  Herds of animals?  Africa is all of these things and more.  You will visit the African Savanna Barn where the Wild Africa animals spend the winter.  Play “Bivoe Ebuma”, and Catch Your Tail, games played by African children.  Learn how animals and the African people live together and depend on one another.  The fun goes all night long when you have a Wild Africa sleepover.  Come and join us in this “African Adventure”.

**Thursday Overnight at the Zoo, no camp during the day on July 10th.

 

CSI Wildlife

Become a wildlife crime scene investigator at Binder Park Zoo.  Join the CSI Wildlife team to help recreate a crime scene, track down suspects and piece together clues to solve a crime that has been committed!  Each day will give you new information and investigative techniques to help solve our wildlife crime.
