Zoomobile Outreach

A visit from the Zoomobile is a great addition to classroom activities in teaching your science curriculum. The animals help to make learning fun and the activities stimulate young minds. Programs are assembly type with up to 150 participants at a time. This is an unique opportunity to enjoy the animals and experience the wonders of nature. To schedule a visit by the Zoomobile to your facility, call (269) 979-1351 ext. 175. Most programs can be done for all grades. All programs meet Michigan Curriculum Framework. You may choose from one of the following offerings:

Tropical Treasures
It’s home to more than half of the plant and animal species on the face of the earth. It provides many of the products in our daily lives, yet we are losing it at an alarming rate. See this biome from the ground up, as participants become different parts of the rainforest environment. Meet some of the animals that reside here. Your students will be transported to a biome of vast diversity, where they will experience the rainforest, the Earth’s “Tropical Treasure”. (Program is 50 minutes in length)

Save Their Species
What has over 9 billion babies in six months? What happened to many of the animals of the Hawaiian Islands? Through activities and live animals, students will discover the answer to these questions as well as what animals do to ensure their species' survival. (Program is 50 minutes in length)

Classy Animals
Feathers, scales, fur, breathing through gills, laying eggs or giving birth all seem to be so different! However, they are more alike than you think. Your students, with the aid of live animals, will become scientists that have been given the task of sorting the millions of animals on Earth into classes. What will be the one characteristic that will become the determining factor to solve this mystery? Find out when those “Classy Animals” come to visit. (Program is 50 minutes in length)

Circle Of Life
In Africa, many animals depend on plants to help them survive while some animals need others to ensure their survival. Through biofacts and live African animals, students will learn how all living things are connected in one big "circle of life." (Program is 50 minutes in length)

Win, Lose, or Draw
Brown eyes or blue eyes, tall or short, thick fur or no fur – what are some of the factors that cause a change to occur in a species? How will inherited characteristics or changes in the environment help or harm a species? What happens if your species cannot adapt? Adaptations and survival, it’s all “Win, Lose, or Draw”. (Program is 50 minutes in length)
